This would have been the easiest thing with a tablesaw but it’s manageable with a plow plane and a rabbet plane. Now I need to figure out how the heck to cut some endgrain boxing

Yes it has no vice. It is also relatively low, great for handplanes.

Check out the Bridge City HP-8 plane I got at the AWFS show in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. Harvey and Bridge City had a claw/crane game where you could win prizes and this was one of them.

About 15 years ago Stanley effectively ended their spare parts dept for handplanes prior you could get replacement screws, totes, adjusters, etc. Why? Nobody cared enough to fix their hand planes.

I love coming across these old tool boxes. Most have been relieved of thier handplanes and braces like this one. I would bet those are very usable Disston Saws though.

The youngest planes here are wooden rabbets from the 1950’s, the oldest I can date are from the 1820’s-1830’s. I don’t know why but I love seeing old craftsman’s and makers names and knowing I’m keeping these tools making something almost 200 years later. That’s all.
