Our @hannahtheplumbermcr has been selected as the Green Party candidate for Gorton & Denton 💚 and we can’t think of anyone more perfect for the job.

Let’s get our first ever Manchester Green MP elected and spread our message of HOPE, not hate, across Manchester and beyond 🙌

Wishing @hannahtheplumbermcr all the very best tomorrow in the Gorton & Denton by-election 💚. -

At least 34 of the new # Labour MPs in this parliament are former lobbyists..

The voters of Gorton and Denton have a choice between a racist, a lobbyist and a female plumber!

Vote #GreenParty
Vote @hannahtheplumbermcr ❌

@hannahtheplumbermcr Kind, gracious and humble.

Had the pleasure of meeting Hannah Spencer mp, yesterday💚

The Green Party feel like something new right now. I find their policies on peace, inclusion, and redistribution of wealth are inspiring.

Hannah Spencer's [Instagram?] message, with ALT text.

"On my second day in parliament, I met with others to create an All Party Parliamentary Group to tackle fuel poverty and address the inequalities too many people face. I meant it when I said I'd get stuck in straightaway 💪"

We should indeed trust Hannah and the local Greens on their decision to stand and that they can win. Definitely.

There's a much bigger picture to what's going on, with loads of different folk all with lots of different views! I'm glad this little Instagram community of ours is somewhere we can discuss this in a kind and friendly way. That healthy debate is important. Right now, us Greens are being asked to step aside with literally zero idea of what for. 'Stopping Reform' isn't good enough when this Labour party promised to improve people's lives at the last general election and have failed to do so. Trust in them is rightly low. They've created the circumstances for Reform to thrive. Id like to see Labour make some firm commitments on which version of Andy Burnham we're potentially getting as Prime Minister. The way the Clean Air Zone was proposed (and then dropped) to me stands out about how Labour really aren't reading the room. If they can't read the room can they run a country? What I also know, is there's a huge void in politics right now. And people in Makerfield feel really shat on and let down by the same old political parties. Today, we went out and listened to people and it was really informative. That's what we need to be doing right now 💖💪🏻

Who they stand as a candidate is down to the local Green Party's elected committee.

Hannah went to meet them.

You're correct from what people have been telling Hannah in Makersfield.

Praying no. But she posted something herself of visiting a mosque after a racist attack. She's also been to a few iftars in the community while campaigning. It's not inconceivable there will be footage of her at an actual service, though it'd have to be a mixed one. www.instagram.com/p/DVMFf91CtQi/

It felt important to me to go and be with with the congregation at Manchester Central Mosque at dinnertime today. Because here, last night, our Muslim communities came under attack from someone who entered the mosque with an axe. The fact someone did this shows the terrifying reality of anti- Muslim hatred in our communities. This is a direct result of the racist rhetoric circulating online and in our streets. Our Muslim friends and neighbours should be able to worship without fear, they should do so in peace and in safety. I do not want a world where people are targeted and attacked simply because of who they are. I stand in solidarity with the Manchester Central Mosque community and all Muslims who are feeling unsafe right now. This is what the politics of division brings. It should not fall on our Muslim communities to challenge this rise in anti Muslim hatred. We all must play our part. To root it out wherever it appears- online, on our streets, in politics and wherever else we see it. This hatred has no place in Gorton & Denton, or anywhere in Manchester. I heard about the bravery of worshippers who sacrificed their own safety to protect those who had come to pray. And for the police officers who attended and were present at the scene today. Throughout Ramadan I have been welcomed at every prayer or Iftar I've joined, as I am at all times of the year. I am so proud that our places of worship provide sanctuary to all of us, if we ever need it. Whether we are of this faith or not. To all of the people here, in this place I am so proud to call home, who is rightly feeling even more worried for their safety. We will not let you fight this on your own- it is up to all of us to come together and refuse to be divided. This is just how we do things here. We stick up for each other. Now, more than ever.

Did enjoy Hannah Spencer MP leaning in to criticism of her clothing by making a reel about Thunder Egg. It’s a great shop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter that is sadly having to close due to the landlord increasing the rent. www.instagram.com/reel/DWiiWHi...

Have loved @thundereggmanchester since the days I volunteered at the Oxfam shop over the road. Love that they're size inclusive, bright and with a proper focus on dressing how you want and not for the approval of other people. Something I deffo live by ✌🏻 So when they got a comment on their facebook complaining that their shop looks like it sells 'woke Hannah Spencer type clothes' I knew it was time for me to go and pick up a couple more bits. A cute bag, some very bright pink kecks and a beautiful t shirt that says 'Protect Trans Lives'. I had the honour of being served by Lauren- an amazingly kind human who actually designed that t shirt!!! I've long been someone who's shouted about us being able to support local independent business, if we're in a financial position to be able to do so. But I cant post this without acknowledging the fact that places like Thunder Egg are being forced off our high streets because their rents are going up by eyewatering amounts. It's gone past the point of us rallying round and supporting them more and needs a government who will tackle the unregulated commercial rental market and address the unnafordable energy bills that businesses are struggling with. Just glad that I've now got a few more pieces of woke clothing to wear in parliament as I try and push the government in a better direction. Who says politics has to involve boring clothes eh xView all 1,256 comments

"We want to stop them bleeding people dry."

The Green Party want to see stricter regulations on gambling to reduce harm.

Nigel Farage thinks gambling shops are great places for lonely people to hang out...

What do you think?
