I interview him for #thewomenwhoflewforhitler, as he had known Nazi testpilot #HannaReitsch since the #1936 #olympics. 5 yrs later, Eric was serving his nation against the Nazi threat.

Sad to learn of the death, at 100, of #WW2 #Lancaster pilot Rusty Waughman, DFC, AFC, LdH.
Rusty kindly helped me during my research for #TheWomenWhoFlewForHitler. He had met test pilot #HannaReitsch after the war, admitting she was ‘quite impressive’.
A great man, RIP.
