i have no informed or knowledgeable speculation about it whatsoever, seems like modern researchers think it could’ve maybe been a hantavirus, but that’s above my armchair expert posting license

OCD is really fun and I love being obsessed with how everything is bedbugs and cockroaches and hantavirus and microplastics and botulism and mold and CO2

PLEASE tell me you're wearing a mask (N95) or respirator whilst working in there! Hantavirus is a thing!

Indigenous people were crucial to many public health achievements:

💉Development of Hib vaccine (Hib is bacterium that causes deadly infection in young kids)
🦠 Helped isolate & identify what's now known as hantavirus
🌽 Promoted traditional Indigenous foods to support health

No, that was a disease recognised by Tudor physicians. The most convincing possibility I've seen (from my vast knowledge of epidemiology, obviously), is some sort of hantavirus.

Yeah but it wouldn't just be the one thing if you're literally opening a portal back in time to a europe full polio and hantavirus. Soldiers would be coming back from Europe with typhus and malaria. Cholera all over the place, dysentery + i'm sure sereral other varieties of life changing diarrhea.

Russia's unharvested breadbasket will feed unimaginable numbers of rodents which will feed on coming spring sowing.
I expect record numbers of rodent borne hantavirus hemorrhagic fever this winter.

This is of note as it did result in the shortest Peerage in the history of England, the 2nd and 3rd Dukes of Suffolk both died of the Sweats, as Charles Brandon died at the age of 13, an hour after his brother.

I think the consensus is that it was a hantavirus of sorts but we'll never know.
I find it curious and fascinating that nobody knows the cause of the dreaded disease “English sweating sickness” that killed a lot of people in England ancestrally, and then disappeared

There’s a great Reddit thread about this (on a subreddit that’s otherwise mostly about true crime), and the theories I have the most time for is that it was either hantavirus and/or a zoonotic spread via horses

I have been lucky enough not have that happen and I’ve been using it for well over a decade. I only set it on my fence line so they aren’t in the house yet. I don’t want to get hantavirus or the plague.
