#heatrisk
This team at CDC did such unbelievable work on Climate and Health. It was such a joy to work with them on heat-related topics. Without collaboration with CDC, this NWS HeatRisk product wouldn't exist.

Yes. It's summer, it's hot. However, what's in store for the southwest and Inter-mountain West into the weekend will be record highs during the hottest time of the year–dangerous for anyone that's unprepared while outdoors. Plan accordingly. weather.gov/heat

Another dangerously hot day from LA west into AZ across the southern U.S.
Remember: everyone can be at risk from the dangers of extreme heat, but these groups are more vulnerable than most. Ensure that your loved ones and neighbors are safe from the heat and remain weather.gov/safety/heat-during

Starting this weekend, Major to Extreme HeatRisk will begin spreading into the Midwest, Deep South, and southwestern U.S. As blistering as the daytime highs will be in many areas, record-warm morning lows will heighten the danger for those unable to seek cool shelter.

Parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast will get their first taste of Summer as temperatures creep into the upper 80’s next week!

Though relief is on the horizon, HeatRisk will still be in the Major and Extreme category for the next few days for broad swaths of the eastern portions of the nation. If you're not inside in AC, make sure to hydrate well and take frequent breaks in the shade. Heat illness can sneak up on you.

Hot & humid conditions are expected to expand across the southern U.S. this weekend. High temperatures are forecast to be well into the 90s, with triple digit heat possible across portions of TX. Widespread Major to Extreme HeatRisk is forecast.

Stay prepared, check the forecast at weather.gov.

Areas highlighted as "Extreme" Heat Risk mean the expectation of rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with no overnight relief affecting *anyone* without cooling/hydration.

Areas highlighted as "Major" Heat Risk means that conditions can affect *anyone* without cooling/hydration.
