As a medic, all I can see is someone with homonymous hemianopia (stroke). Someone who can only see half the world, and the rest doesn't exist.
Everything makes sense now. 🧠 #nzpol
I think the National Party could avoid scenes like this if they funded mental health services.
This is clearly a cry for help.
Who shaves a border collie? And isn't it the farmer's job to shear the sheep, why is he just staring at it?

Drivers require working visual fields to detect and avoid hazards on the road. UMN Psychology alum Yi Ni Toh conducted a study examining prism glasses as aids for people with homonymous hemianopia to overcome this obstacle to safe driving.

Left-sided homonymous hemianopia means you have lost the left half of your field of vision in both eyes because of brain damage from a stroke.

This occurs because a stroke in the right side of your brain damaged the visual processing pathways that map the left side of your world.

One of the things from today's venture to RBWH, nothing has changed from the last review for Mrs K.

Still right homonymous hemianopia.

She can drive, but only if she turns left.

Naaa, not really.

It's not that far away, but with 3 appointments and the delays, it makes for a very long day.

I don't go to the movies much. Mrs K is blind in both eyes, so she only sees 1/2 the movie, but they won't give me a discount.

Sorry, bad right homonymous hemianopia joke.

PCA Stroke:
Occipital lobe → contralateral homonymous hemianopia.
Inferior temporal lobe → memory deficits.
💡 Visual symptoms may be missed !

🔹 Vertebrobasilar Stroke:
Brainstem/cerebellum → cranial nerve palsies, ataxia, ‘crossed’ signs.
💡 Basilar artery occlusion → ‘locked-in’ syndrome.

Hemianopia is a type of blindness that causes kids to lose vision in part of their field of view, either on the left or right side. Researchers at @uhnresearch.bsky.social are using virtual reality as a way to restore visual perception. bit.ly/4jozJYk
