Beech trees are a recognised & visible boundary marker in many parts of Scotland, particularly in the #ScottishBorders where they form hedgerows or lines along fields, dykes & park edges. These 3 were recorded nr Ancrum.

The new #orchard has had a tough year. Extremely cold winter followed by moth/caterpillar attack in spring, lack of sunshine during the summer & now it is flooded. No wonder there was not a single fruit on any of the 65 trees. Will 2024 destroy these #heritagetrees completely?

2/2 Below is pictured one of a group of Black Walnut trees planted in 1957. They're located beside St. Joseph's Home in Medicine Hat and frame the grounds of an apartment building. We also revisited some ducklings that grew up.
