Observation 4: Centaurs are hexapods. As are griffins and most western dragons. (Wyverns are tetrapods; Eastern dragons vary between 4 and 0 limbs).

Springtails are tiny hexapods - this species ranging from 0.5 to 1.5mm long. Tiny isn’t usually my focus, but finding a wee bit of sunshine was fun!

Confession: As much as I love hexapod invertebrates, I’m extremely picky with vertebrate hexapods. So griffins, dragons, designs with four arms and two legs etc. are extremely hit or miss for me. My preferred dragons are wyverns because of this.

Look at this little lump. It's a barely 2 mm. springtail (class Collembola), which are hexapods (6 legs) but not insects. This one was at almost ten thousand feet in the mountains of Montana, living its best gummi life under a rock. #BugSky 🌿🐙

If we’re going the “shrimps is bugs” route, and technically the clade Pancrustacea groups all crustaceans and hexapods, then I can say that stone crab is the tastiest bug. Fresh, hot, stone crab meat with a touch of butter. Pure decadence.
