Right like, they were always just a hidge podge conglomerate of trolls AND actually skilled internet sleuths. I genuinely believe many were recruited to actually agencies and the obvious losers were left with the mantle, that being the racist conspiracy theorists.

To me the most remarkable thing about Robbins being asked to find a diplomatic post for Doyle is that he was also told to keep the Foreign Secretary (Lammy at the time) in the dark about it. This makes it sound like some distinctly underhand manoeuvrers were going on.
