Yes, this is what I think. Trans men must be made invisible (if we're too old to be infantalized as wayward girls) because it's too destabilizing to gender hierarchy to acknowledge our lives as they exist.
“Impossible” in their eyes, yes. I suspect the scant airtime (in the US) covering/deploring trans men is because of this. “Nothing to see here”, in other words—with a dash of “of course they want to be men”.
In the UK, with their “protect the young girls” screed, we see the flip side approach.

The revealing part is the hierarchy: corporate profits and luxury access are treated as success, while ordinary people’s costs are treated as irrelevant.
