Words can't express enough how much irrational anxiety this message caused me as a child while minding my own business watching VHS tapes from #HollywoodVideo and #Blockbuster.

If these films had hit shelves in the 1990s, which one would have been your first rental from Hollywood Video?

VHS and plastic shell case 3D model made in Blender by @mythicalarts1982.bsky.social for Digital Arts Empire projects. #90s #movies #nostalgia #retro #hollywoodvideo #blender #3D #art
Introducing my completed VHS tape and plastic shell case 3D models, created in Blender. I made the final renders in Substance 3D Stager and polished them in Photoshop CC to capture a realistic, nostalgic 90s video store aesthetic. If these films had hit shelves in the 1990s, which one would have been your first rental from Hollywood Video?

New video concept: conceptual visuals with older jams as the soundtrack. Here's my first try. Does it work? Who knows? youtu.be/eLuTWUwt82g

Earlier this month I volunteered at the first ever Repair Cafe sponsored by the #RoxburyTownshipPublicLibrary. I had nostalgia for the almost 20 years doing software and hardware support at #ADP. Even my experience at #HollywoodVideo came in handy repairing CD Players and the like! #TechSupport #TSS

Created a VHS 3D model made with #blender. Photorealistic lighting test in Substance 3D Stager. Feeling like going back to the 90s again! #90s #vhs #nostalgia #movies #hollywoodvideo #retro
Working on this VHS tape 3D model in Blender has made me feel like I’ve gone back to 1993 again. After spending seven days of working on this model and refining the design, I’m focused on capturing the nostalgic look and feel of classic VHS media with as much detail as possible. Although the model is still unfinished, I want to test it in a photorealistic render with dramatic lighting and shadow to see how closely it can match the visual style of early 1990s Hollywood Video advertising and magazine commercial aesthetics. This project is part of the larger Digital Arts Empire I’ve been working hard to build as a small independent entertainment media vision. My goal goes beyond comic-inspired art alone—it also includes future-focused technology design, computer technology/game magazine cover visuals, independent film production, 3D animation, games, and other creative media. That is why I’m very carefully designing this VHS model down to every tiny detail. Even though I never planned to sell this model, it remains a private asset as IP created by me for this larger entertainment media project and for continued visual experimentation with 3D technology. Created in Blender. Photorealistic lighting test in Substance 3D Stager.

Had no clue that Reel Video on Shattuck Ave was owned by @HollywoodVideo. Hope the latter's Frisco store closures don't threaten the former.

Just picked up two old #hollywoodvideo finds from back in the day. Two very cool, but very different actioners from Hong Kong and Germany.
I miss the video store experience and the amazing discoveries you could make.
