Today is Hungarian Holocaust Remembrance Day.

81 years ago, on April 16, 1944, Jews around the country were rounded up in the Budapest ghetto, then deported, and by the end of WWII, 500,000 Hungarian Jews had become victims of the Holocaust.

May Charlotte's memory be a blessing. She died with so much inside her -- an unborn child and all the paintings that were never birthed.

16 April 1917 | Charlotte Salomon was born. The German Jewish artist from Berlin was murdered in #Auschwitz on 10 October 1943. She was 5 months pregnant.

She created an autobiographical series "Life? or Theater?: A Song-play" made of 769 paintings.
