Pumas can live in a variety of habitats, but they need stalking cover (e.g. brush, trees) to successfully hunt.

Groups changed behaviour relative to the location within their homerange, but also relative to the size of the rival they were most likely to encounter.

We found differences in information gathering, communication, space use and daily timings relating to the threat of conflict.

Barbent's Homerange. it's quite large and varied but is a bit rough around the edges. Biggest issue are the thumbnails for choosing your spawn point are all AI which is shit but for an early release of a WIP map it's not too bad.

What if you lesion the hippocampus of male #PrairieVoles and put them in the field? (by: Lindsay Sailer & Caitlyn Finton)

Will they bond (yes)
Will homerange size change (no)
Will it affect monogamous males (not really)
Will it affect non-monogamous males (yup!)

I'm reposting them here on Bluesky, with alt text.

🏔️ By comparing the traditional and new approach we see that assuming omniscience makes us consistently underestimate habitat selection. This was true both in simulations and in GPS tracks of red kites that leave their parental homerange for the first time (3/4)

ETHOLOGY: The study of behavioural imprinting has a long history! WIth most focusing on filial imprinting, nonfilial types (sexual or homerange imprinting), are underrepresented. Chamberlain et al. did a systematic review and discuss the implications: https://t.co/Kq1u7FTCl7
