It was not the thorn bending to the honeysuckles, but the honeysuckles embracing the thorn.

Reminds me that I need to plant the Virginia Creeper and honeysuckles I scavenged from the 'not quite dead, please take a chance on us' corner of the garden centre.

The name sounds Indigenous -- and it is, but from northern Japan (Ainu) not this continent. Looks like it's related to honeysuckles.
Introduced as a crop several decades ago but only took off recently. They have a marketing group now.

So that’s two pawpaws, a paper birch, two haksap bushes, couple lowbush blueberries, & a persimmon added this year, & another 20-30 invasive honeysuckles/autumn olives OUT, plus taking out a couple nonnative Siberian elms so that I hear less complaints about All The Trees I Have To Mow Around Now 😁

Honeysuckles sometimes layer themselves of their own accord, so avail yourselves of the hint if you want to increase your supply. #gardening

Its cradling voice a
gentle stream that trickles
through a meadow
carrying the scent of
fallen leaves and the
dew of honeysuckles

Its giggles splash like
otters' in play
Racing though the river
Chasing after lovers gaze til
paws grasps
Both unbridled

can you imagine dilating only once a day. I'm conditioned to wake up at 7 every morning and now I'll be able to use that to go for bike rides. I'm gonna get to reintroduce myself to the neighborhood birds and sip on honeysuckles again

This sounds delightful! One of my honeysuckles has similarly gone v brown and looks like it's struggling, but a bit of it is hanging on. I'm thinking of turning one of my beds over to tough flowering shrubs. The big problem is a 50yr old christmas tree - killed outright by last two drought years.

Honeysuckles taste best straight off the tree. We used to eat them on the way home when I was younger. So sweet!

Some limited and waning memory of Herbert Ashe (...) persists in the hotel at Adrogué, among the effusive honeysuckles and in the illusory depths of the mirrors. In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen; once dead, he is not even the ghost he was then.

Same here. I plant varieties of salvia every year to give the pollinators something to sip. They also love our honeysuckles and Canna lilies.

Yay! We had hummingbirds all weekend too. We don’t use feeders so they were after Lobelia cardinalis, Phlox paniculata, Scrophularia marilandica, Vernonia ‘Southern Cross’, Salvia coccinea & more planted just for them. Unfortunately our native honeysuckles (Lonicera sempervirens) are between blooms.

"And bid her steal into the pleachèd bower,
Where honeysuckles, ripened by the sun,
Forbid the sun to enter – like favorites,
Made proud by princes, that advance their pride
Against that power that bred it."

This week's pride flag-inspired illustration!

Has anyone ever heard about blue honeysuckles? Because I haven't 😅

Reminds me of a local band from the late 80s to mid 90s. In 87 they were called The Honeysuckles and jangled in a fey way. By 90 they were Honeysuck, jumping on the Baggy bandwagon. By 94 they'd gone grunge and had contracted their name to Suck. Same members in every incarnation.

Dreading the day the kudzu hits noVa - I feel vinca, bittersweet, several honeysuckles, wineberries, peppervine, and ivy are sufficient! Not to mention the native Virginia creeper, the passionflower, the wild rose, the wild grape, the trumpet vine...

I haven’t read a ton of real monster smut but the souls trilogy by Harley Laroux is good if you haven’t read them yet. I also really liked honeysuckles by January Rayne
