hopesfall is the better of the two, but bless the martyr is so good that band is still together despite having zero original members. just riding the merit of that one single perfect record.

Honestly I'm not surprised that my listening history has led to Hopesfall being a load-bearing band, but I wasn't prepared for it to still be the one to pull new bands in.

instead I was doing (at the time) fairly obscure shit like Underoath when they were white metal (eventually just another screamo band). But it brings me back!
The Christian metal and posthardcore scene was HOT with bands like Underoath, Hopesfall, Norma Jean. I helped do promotion for labels like 🧵

You, a fool: facebook should be shot into the sun because of all the right-wing propaganda
Me, enlightened: facebook should be shot into the sun because of all the comments under this post teasing a new Hopesfall album saying that Arbiter was good

I saw Hopesfall so much in that era. They were practically a local band. That was probably the best I ever saw them
I had a copy of that comp at some point!

YES! Was that like ‘01 No Wings era Hopesfall? If so, time-traveling high five to you from the pit! Got my first concert concussion at Pterodactyl (Spudgun/MxPx) and if you don’t already have this Strand live comp, it’s worth picking up (Squad, LSU, Mortal, Prayer Chain, Dear Ephesus, etc.)

The Pterodactyl and The Strand loomed large in lore, but never got to see shows at the former. The Strand, too, had already closed, but someone tried to reopen with not much success... but I got to see Hopesfall there!
