Hi. Nate. Working-class cosmic horror.
My musical interests are VERY wide, and I tend to create playlists for each major piece I'm working on.
But for editing, I almost exclusively listen to instrumental jazz from mid '50s to early '70s.

I'm Tom and my horror is supernatural.
Taste changes with the seasons, but I feel at home with rock and all the traditions that led to it. Blues, folk from here and abroad, all that jazz.

My punk rock x folk horror novel starred an old punk musician, but his playlist was indie folk-girls and that built my writing playlist because it helped solidify the mood of the book. But I constantly reference songs and artists, and even wrote a song for that novel.

Hello groovy creeps, I'm Gabby. I write spooky stories about grief, regret, and other monsters.

I'm a child of the OST, so I tend to find music in background scenes of films and television. Right now I'm going really hard on Donna Summer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBbJ...

As many people as possible; family members, colleagues, professionals I've worked with to get here, inspirations both personal and ties to the work.

The hard part for me would be to keep it brief enough in case there's a time limit ala the Oscars...
It’s the FOURTH and FINAL DAY of the (fictional) Horror Writers Chat Conference.

A huge part - It is almost impossible for me to write without music of some sort. eg a lot of calmer chapters in my book are written while I listen to The Smell Of Mushroom (Stardew Valley), & parts with The Cat often involve 13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round the Side of Your Bed

I'm James Ryan, and I do a lot of reading as well as writing horror.

On Substack, Monica Van Fleet's "You Want It Darker?" has been doing some great work sharing info as she starts her DRACULA research project.

Hi, #HorrorWriteresChat!

I'm Lenore, a severely disabled creator of horror comics that I write and draw by mouth. My current work is a riff on Frankenstein as a metaphor for disability called Frankly.

I'm listening to a lot of Rasputina making it. 90's gothic cello rock for a gothic fairytale.
