tech hobbyists always naming their home server something edgy like Hephaestus or Orion makes me want to scream, even more so when they call it that in regular conversation instead of “my computer”
Currently have the chance to name things. How do you name things. How do you dodge both cliche and jargon. How do you hit the right level of wonka not too cute but not too dry. Gotta have the right name. Gotta feel good on the tongue. Evocative but not horny. Maybe a little horny?

if you run an atproto PDS, you can't just change the hostname and pray.
you need to update the registered PDS endpoint in all the DID documents for all the accounts hosted on the PDS.
I don't know of any out-of-the-box tooling for this, so recommend folks simply not change hostnames

for non-USA users of TikTok (eg in EU, Japan, etc), things are still operated by ByteDance Ltd.

The problem with this is that a PDS only learns the IP address of connecting relays, not their hostnames. Maybe we could solve this by having relays announce their hostname in a request header, or the UA
