I wrote a very silly little one-shot in That Other Fandom. Don't hate me, I also have an OFMD one-shot percolating!

Shane Hollander gave the impression of someone who had expected to be disappointed. “Just water is fine.” Ilya busied himself with a glass, ice, and water while Shane Hollander spread his paperwork out across the breakfast bar. Ilya delivered the glass and leaned against the other side of the bar, taking the main in. “You have freckles,” he said with delight. “I have a CPA,” Shane Hollander said without looking up. He reached into his plain black briefcase and pulled out a plain black glasses case, from which he pulled a plain black pair of glasses and put them on. Ilya palmed his phone and typed without looking. <i>Do you think it’s too soon to propose marriage?</i> The answer came almost immediately. <i>To your boring tax man? He felt Ilya shift under him. “<em>Shane</em>.” Shane mumbled another complaint before starting the work it took to figure out which limbs were his and untangle them from Ilya’s. It was normally a slow process - Shane didn’t wake up well on the best of days, and especially not the night after being out late - but it was cut short when Ilya sat up, grabbed Shane’s arms, and jerked him upright too. “Ilya!” Shane’s eyes snapped open. “What the fuck?” “What the fuck, that’s what the fuck,” Ilya said. Once Shane focused on him, he saw that Ilya was pale and sweating. “Are you all right?” he asked. “Do you need to puke?” “No. Maybe. Not the point.” “I’m very confused,” Shane said. “You’re very something else,” Ilya said flatly. He held up his left hand, fingers spread. A shiny new ring glittered on his ring finger.

Then why did you watch so closely?” “Fuck. <em>you.</em> I'm sorry I was nice to you this morning.” Shane took a long drink of his ginger ale. “You are not.” Shane glared at Ilya over the rim of his can. Ilya slid closer and put his free hand high on Shane's leg. “You are not,” he said again, giving Shane a sultry look. “I'm a little sorry,” Shane said, but he was leaning closer. “You brushed your teeth, right?” “Come find out,” Ilya said. “Gross,” Shane said, and kissed him.

#wipwednesday I'm doing two stories today because why not! First, the #HRfic sequel to married in Vegas (this scene is set the night of the wedding):
They were just inside the door of their hotel room; Ilya had shoved his shoes off and opened the champagne at the same time, in a feat of skill and coordination worthy of an MHL Cup MVP. He took another drink and then tipped it into Shane’s willing mouth. “Mmm,” Shane said, and went back to hanging his pants over the edge of a chair. He unbuttoned his shirt, and then Ilya’s brain short-circuited at the sight of his husband - his husband! - in an unbuttoned dress shirt and black boxer briefs. He reached around blindly and set the champagne down on what was probably a table, he didn’t fucking care, and reached for Shane. “I wa--whoa!” Shane said as Ilya grabbed him and hoisted him in the air. He wrapped his legs around Ilya’s waist and held onto his shoulders as Ilya started walking them back towards the bed. “What are you doing?” “Returning the favor,” Ilya said.

How bad can it be?” “The tax man is coming today.” Ilya tossed his towel in the laundry basket and dug in his closet, cradling the cell phone between his cheek and shoulder. “I only have club clothes, workout clothes, and game day suits. Which shirt says ‘I am a responsible adult who makes good money choices,’ do you think?” “The government is coming?” Svetlana asked with real alarm. “No, no, <em>my</em> tax man. Or the new one that my agent hired. This one isn’t just giving me pages to sign. He wants to explain my taxes to me.” “That sounds like something a responsible adult who makes good money choices should do.” Ilya groaned. “Sveta, do you know how many states I have to file tax returns in? He will be here all day.” “Your life is so hard,” Svetlana said with no sympathy whatsoever in her voice. “Wear the blue button-up and the jeans that make your ass look good. Maybe he’ll be impressed by that instead.” “All jeans make my ass look good,” Ilya said. “You know the ones. I have to go to work. Try not to ruin some poor tax accountant’s life when I’m not looking.” “He’s probably the most boring man in the world, how can I ruin his life even more?” Ilya grumbled, but he let her hang up on him and dug out the blue button-up.

From the way Ilya grinned at him, he was not succeeding. “Rose is recommending books to me.” “Funny books?” Ilya waggled his hand back and forth in the air. “Mmm, sometimes.” Shane narrowed his eyes. “Romance novels?” “Oh yeah,” Ilya said, grinning. “It was one book in an airport,” Shane said. “Why are you obsessed with them now?” “I love love,” Ilya said. “And they’re more fun than--what is that book?” He pointed at Shane’s book with his phone. Shane clutched his book defensively. “It’s about famous goalies. Wyatt recommended it.” “Mm-hm,” Ilya said, like his point had been proven, which it absolutely had not.
