I feel like the story was more cohesive than ROTM (that is to say, things happened in an order that made logical sense instead of coming out of nowhere with Grizz and Hugefry), but it didn't really have anything to say. There really is no conflict outside of "let's beat this next level too".

So I thought for the entirety of Splatoon3's update cycle that a Hugefry would be the final king salmonid added to the game, the statue of it made me feel even more sure of it. Obviously, that didn't happen so what if it's a boss fight in #SpatoonRaiders?

Reminder that in Splatoon 3 its been shown that the 3 idols have like some kinda magical property or something that allowed Smallfry to evolve into Hugefry, if that ain't gonna have some kind of stake in the gameplay then I don't even know

The salmonid at your side got lost during a big run, and is based off salmon that wander off from the river to the ocean and are worth a lot of money for some reason.
I'm guessing the magic transformation is so it's not permanent (tho having hugefry next to the zapfish's look cool...)
