Humans do not need more authority over other animals. We need less. The wild is not a broken machine waiting for human repair.
Nature Is Not Ours To Rule
Humans are so intoxicated by control that we can look at a fox with mange, a fledgling fallen from a nest, a rabbit dying in winter, and somehow end up back at the same fantasy: that we should be in charge.

Listen, here’s the thing. A human learning from art is good. But the machine isn’t really “learning”. It’s scraping. It’s downloading and mimicking the work of thousands of artists and doesn’t pay those artists a penny.
Does that seem right to you?

don't get me wrong, i use machine translation all the time, my current job involves decoding information in languages i don't speak and my brain's too old to learn. but i don't trust the output and never machine translate text meant for publication, then i outsource the job to a human translator.

That's still completely ignoring the fact you can't do (human style) embodiment for something that'd be (at least) city size.

So yeah, I'm curious how you'd want to emulate a human mind with a wooden machine?

Machine learning from materials is not the same as human learning from materials.

There is also a powerful economic incentive to use AI to replace human labour.
When a machine performs work that once required a person, some of that value can shift away from labour and toward whoever owns the model, infrastructure and company.
That deserves much more attention.

It must be comforting to be able to dismiss evidence contrary to your position by convincing yourself that the machine can’t possibly be broken—it must be the human domain expert—or by moving the goalposts.

The Human Problem in the Machine

As artificial intelligence grows more capable, the greatest danger may not be a machine that refuses to obey us, but one that obeys us too well. From Grey Goo to rogue AI agents, the human problem in the machine may ultimately be our own fallibility.

i saw someone go 'without AI [this] wouldn't have been made bc it would've taken a human 100s of hours' and it's like. okay?

then a human should've invested 100s of hours into it, why should i care that the planet killer machine 'made' a thing that you couldn't be bothered to invest your time into?

The population of Gaza was 2.2 million +. More than half the buildings were destroyed. So, no exaggeration. And, no, most weren’t evacuated.

AI can imitate your tone after reading enough of your words. It still cannot supply the decade that gave those words weight. Let the machine help with shape. Keep the scar tissue, taste, and final judgment human.

This library worker’s entire budget, including her own salary, is $80,000 a year. Meanwhile these AI chuds are making hundreds of thousands a year to strip mine the human literary corpus for the machine that does fraud. It’s absurd!

In software development, we "solved" being helpful.

It's not what another _human_ said would be helpful, heavens no. ACTUALLY, it's the absolute *best & cleverest* answer possible.

Then, we gave developers a cleverness slot machine that effused confidence in what is best.

So, it turns out […]

I totally get how the war machine economy works.

The net result is the same. Money flowing to the Zionists via whatever mechanism means less to spend on basic human needs in the U.S.

for 7 1/2 hours. The agent agreed and said the demotion was not handled well (by the ai) and now I am flying back on Thursday, Premium. It pays to be persistent, it pays to say no to a supposedly ‘smart machine,’ and in this day and age, when shit happens, try to contact a real human being.

Just block AI apologists. Why would you spend actual human effort arguing with somebody who has made outsourcing their thinking/writing to a machine their central passion? Who would you really be arguing with? Might as well put sunglasses on a lamp and spend time arguing with that.
