Humansare social animals and we learn to look around us for context clues about things like danger or appropriate response to a situation. If a Nazi is being treated like any other bar patron/speaker/politician "so people can see and make up their own minds", that normalcy is part of what we see.

Literally sobbing because our parents are chopping up a tree we grew up withand the tree feels like our family and these fucking humansare just so happy about it being mangled for no reason

When looking at why people follow psycopaths i think it gets more complicated. You have to consider how the masses can be manipulated by propoganda, obedience to authority, social conformity etc etc. Most humansare quite easy to manipulate, psycopaths are experts at doing this.
