#huntarian
Little lab social to the Huntarian museum followed by a drink at the Seven Stars where we got to see The General aka the cat in the ruff making their way to the royal courts
Of justice 😍

Yes, the Huntarian was mentioned. No formal relationship but they seem to be of the same breed.

Saw piles of human bones in the basements of the temples in Peru. Strange how different some people's post-mortum destiny is.

You can see it online- he Huntarian Muesum in London (few mins from the Forbidden Planet flagship store) has the Evlyn Tables from 1640. Oldest known dissection, 4 tables with nerves, arteries, and veins laminated to them.

Huntarian is the Royal College of Surgeon's museum and has a lot of.. Stuff

So, I went to a little place called the Huntarian Museum of anatomical exhibits.

The items here are on the tame side, but I like the light/shade.

I couldn’t bring myself to photo the pickled penises, skulls broken by syphilis or the human foetuses from 0-8 months in jars, including quadruplets. 😬

The Huntarian (as I read in a reply)?

I can also recommend the Thackary Museum if you ever happen to be vaguely in the area - you probably went through Leeds on the way to York actually. I think you'd like.

Disease Street. Mmmm☺️

The City is fascinating - the Guildhall, the Mythrium, are all worth a look. You can see plays in the remnants of the Rose Theatre. Denis Seaver’s House, the Huntarian, Sir John Soan’s Museums … Barbican gardens. Churches of St Bartholomew the Great, All Hallow’s by the Tower & Temple Church …

British Library (they have a treasures exhibition with some Davinci stuff, a couple of magna cartas, some bits of dead sea scroll that kind of thing), Grant Museum (biggest display of microscopic animals and also a penguin skeleton and stuff), huntarian museum (royal surgeons museum).

The Huntarian museum in the royal college of surgeons is worth a look too

John Soanes Museum (random eccentric rich man's collection of stuff), and the Huntarian (medical history) are opposite each other.

Wellcome Collection (science/art/medical history) and British Library are very close to each other.

Grant Museum of Zoology for weird animals in jars etc.

I miss the old Huntarian! Wish I'd taken more photos there.

It's very good. We went to the Huntarian Museum after and I can recommend that if you have time. Very relevant.

Looking for skeletons in the Huntarian Museum. Mission too easy, but still fun.

British Library, Grant Museum and Huntarian are my faves in a close area (Euston) Don't know what there is at White Hart Lane, but there might be something there and it's not hard from Seven Sisters.

What a crazy day @ #RAISE25, it went by so fast, but the quality of sessions was still amazing. Thanks to everyone that attended and to all the fabulous people at Glasgow university that helped make it such a fabulous conference. The evening reception sponsored by #explorance at the huntarian museum

Huntarian Museum in the west end is also great, lots of weird exhibits

If you've got easy car access, Loch Lomond is about 20-30 minutes by car and is home to some of the country's greatest natural beauty.

Also, Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis in the city centre give a great view. Enjoy!

I think the Huntarian Museum has re-opened. It's free and about 15 mins from The flagship Forbidden Planet. College of Surgeons, anatomy and medical focus. Grant Museum for zoology and British Library for treasures.

All good places to take a break from spending.

What a fabulous end to the #ISATT2025 student pre-conference, with a reception and a tour of the Huntarian
Museum. Thank you to all of the organisers, presenters and participants for a fantastic day! @uofglasgow.bsky.social @angelajaap.bsky.social @ioz100.bsky.social

Former sites of HE - Glasgow University itself. It occupied its site on the High Street for 400 years, but wanted to expand (and go upmarket). They sold the site to a railway company for £100,000. The area is now dominated by Strathclyde University (which would have pleased John Anderson).

John Soane Museum in Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Then Huntarian opposite. Both free.

When taking down an exhibition on the theatre at the Huntarian Museum, we found flyers advertising a show he was in, describing him as coming straight from Torquay. Culture shock!
