I'm not blaming individuals here, but it's just the inevitable result of our capitalist, hyperconsumption driven, social media based reality.

An insane hyperconsumption tiktok in which I show you "my collection," but it's all the different kinds of petrified cheese crackers I have unearthed beneath my child's booster seat

i think it would be cool to one day look back on this era of media hyperconsumption as something that was fundamentally incompatible with human life.

Hyperconsumption of porn has made it normal for Gen Z boys to send pole in the group chat. They want to trigger their buddies.

This video about booktok reminds me a lot about modern gaming discourse and how it's much more driven by hyperconsumption, fandom culture rather than the games themselves youtu.be/gZUCHqotnwA

I can’t take the hemming and hawing.

We don’t want to own our hyperconsumption, so we demand that the people who get wealthy from our support be better people rather than say “I won’t go to this concert. I won’t give my money to that.”

I’m not anti objectification. Pornography and objectification go hand in hand. Being aroused by another person’s sexuality usually involves at least some objectifying.

But white patriarchy has no use for balance. It sees everything as an object and an object only. Hyperconsumption.

I used to tweet on these topics before moving to BlueSky - but virtually all our planetary & social problems are rooted in cauldron of
1. hyperconsumption
2. a world population still growing by 66-89m net new people/yr
3. mindsets of entitlement, competition & separation from Nature/each other.
This explains the rise of business to business transactions that have swallowed up consumer wishes and choices.
“Whereas consumers used to exercise power through the use of currency, they have now become currency themselves”

Right. The economic avarice and hyperconsumption were the byproduct of the evil men in charge, not the cause.
