This is, and I am not even joking, going to fuck up so many hyperlexic kids. I got accused of plagiarism because I used the word “porous” in a sixth grade paper and that shit sticks with you, if not on the permanent record, then in the childhood.
oh come on

...titles that you could genuinely read at the pace of a hyperlexic autistic middle schooler for the next fifty years and not finish all the currently extant "classics" of male-written science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

I was a hyperlexic kid with a ridiculous vocabulary. It would have flunked me for cheating. This is disgusting. I hate AI.

Whenever I see somebody online explaining the ways they know a kid is using ChatGPT to write a paper, I am sincerely glad I'm not a child anymore. Em dashes? Oxford commas? Enumerated lists? Complex contrasting sentences? I am a hyperlexic autistic and began writing like that in fourth grade.

I don't hate this. It's a slightly dated TikTok meme but it's meant to build engagement with Gen Z voters on that platform. It goes over like a lead balloon on BlueSky because we're all hyperlexic, jaded Millennials with chronic anxiety disorders who are panicking.

In both kids and adults, Hyperlexia and Autism are often linked (though there are Hyperlexic people who are not Autistic and Autistic people who are not Hyperlexic).

I've long hated that jackass in particular. (Hyperlexic bookworm.)

the hyperlexic Goosebumps to Dean Koontz pre-teen pipeline
It’s in this thread where someone brings up Dean Koontz and there WERE also a number of years during my childhood where I had read every Dean Koontz novel I’d ever encountered

The Bad Place was terrible but False Memories was so fricken good

What are five topics you can talk about unprepared for five minutes?

1. Emails
2. Rescue rigging
3. Sailboat rigging
4. Bladerunner
5. Hypothermia
Bonus 6. Almost anything else, five minutes isn't that long?
What are five topics you can talk about unprepared for five minutes?

1. How all gossip is reactionary
2: The genius of Dorothy Parker's "Resume"
3. Cannibalism, cannibalism, cannibalism
4. The etymology of "blow job"
5. The politics of 18th-c female underwear

The whole “using big words makes you ableist” discourse is so icky… meanwhile being hyperlexic means I’ve been using big words since I was a toddler. 🫠

The screencap in black was almost certainly LLM written. I'm hyperlexic, I know that voice too well.
