“like every other bad thing that’s happened in this country politically since 2016, this silent algorithmic war against trans people in towns across the country is the direct result of Meta’s anticompetitive business practices”

last year my gift guide was organized around "most difficult person on your holiday list to shop for"

this year it's a list of 11 hyperlocal Portland bookstores (ie not Powells) paired with a shop or craft market featuring local makers for gifts that align thematically with whatever book you buy

I keep my intersections of doom like my Halloween costumes: hyperlocal.😀

Thinking about how many national voices have chimed in on the (nothingburger) Alaska Senate race asterisk while scandalous voter suppression *policy* like this thrives openly in the South with only hyperlocal coverage.
Amid a high-profile U.S. Senate race Tuesday, some Mississippi voters could still be sent to the wrong location on Election Day in 18 precincts due to erroneous addresses and outdated information that remained in the state's elections database on Saturday.

When the story of this Eagles hyperlocal season is written, we’ll learn that Fangio tanked it because he didn’t agree with the whole Stoutland situation.

small hyperlocal communities that inspire, bring us all together, and hold us accountable to something more than ourselves really may be the answer to all of this

So much of what I’ve learned about city government and local issues has come from hyperlocal sources like you.

The failure or refusal of Frey’s administration to collect the $800K owed by a single company should be a major scandal.

I’m STILL star-struck every time I see @taylordahlin.com because I admire her hyperlocal reporting so much. I always beg for a selfy. She’s gracious enough to agree. Here we are tonight at a conversation about the future of Mpls Public Schools with the DFL-endorsed candidates for school board.

I’m taking a short break from block walking IN MY PRECINCT.
We aim to get EVERY eligible voter to the polls - knocked on 22 doors this morning, totaling over 30 voters. About to go out and do another set of turf - spread out, only about 8 houses to go.

Hyperlocal contacts WORK!

It's gotten worse and can been seen in hyperlocal state politics too. Every day, qualified candidate Nabeela Syed has to put up with relentless hate and fear mongering.

It's disgusting.

There might have been hyperlocal, single issue campaigns or pre-existing sentiment about one specific question (and not the other similar ones) - lots of good reasons that are interesting and worthy of study.

Let me tell you my hyperlocal election tea. Last election, we had approx 72% voter turnout in our city. We are on pace to have similar numbers this year. Anyway. Go vote.

Yeah, it ain’t great. Have used it to block walk in my own precinct. Targeted new voters and infrequent voters. But also snagged some folks who vote in EVERY election. The hyperlocal door knocking works a lot better than texts, emails, or phone calls.
