What began as a small stall in 1985 has become a lifelong passion for Ali al-Mandalawi, whose shop in Baghdad’s historic Souq al-Sarai holds more than a million pens and pencils.
His collection draws people from all walks of life, from students and artists to collectors and visitors.

I love libraries and books and hard copy books…. But I really really also love engaging in texts with a pen in hand. Preferably multiple pens in a rainbow of colors. And some sticky tabs.
