You realize that rural people still pay property taxes and get none of those amenities, right? I'm in one of the states with the highest taxes and we don't even have cell service or internet within hearing distance of I81, let alone reliable electric or healthcare.

Just hit Maryland on I81 N and out of nowhere just tons of garbage and blown tires along the shoulder, it's like the roads dept from VA that keeps their highways pristine crossed the border and dumped everything

First thing they will skimp on will be new tires and brakes. So we will have unsafe trucks with angry truckers pushing a few extra miles to try and make more money. Avoid I81 if possible

ok but like the drive from Tidewater to Charlottesville on I64 is awful, sofa king boring. once you get out of northern Shenandoah Valley on I81 it's actually an interesting drive with good views

the exception is that I64 between CVille and Staunton over Afton is good and I81 between Staunton and Harrisonburg is horribad and I hate driving it so much

If you hop on I64 and head west you get to new river valley national park before you get to Blacksburg! Most folks just stay on i81 and don’t take 64 further into the mountains themselves.
