Patients with epilepsy were measured simultaneously with iEEG and high-density EEG (256 electrodes). EEG was source-reconstructed to iEEG electrode locations. eLoreta/sLoreta won over LCMV. Delta/Theta/Alpha were reconstructed somewhat similarly, but better than beta. Cool!👏 Well, I never liked LCMV

source localization is performed using eLORETA. Validation against empirical gamma-band iEEG data from 32 subjects demonstrates it outperforms both distance-based and dipole-based alternatives, revealing associations between intracranial spikes and anatomical connectivity in an epilepsy patient.

🚨 How does the hippocampus bind experiences separated in time into a unified memory?
Our human single-neuron & iEEG recordings show it retroactively reinstates content for successful memory!
Brilliant work led by @xianhuihe.bsky.social & @maritpetzka.bsky.social from the @bstaresina.bsky.social lab!
1/10 🧠 Imagine seeing a cute dog before it runs away. A few seconds later, your friend tells you this was a Corgi.
To remember this experience later, your brain has to link the dog (who is now out of sight) with the name you just heard.

Human-artificial intelligence collaboration for comanaging epilepsy in real time
We conducted a prospective, single-center observational study to evaluate a real-time patient–artificial intelligence (AI) interface for clinical utility and usability (see Methods for detailed study procedures). Thirteen adult EMU inpatients undergoing continuous EEG monitoring to characterize seizures for presurgical evaluation were enrolled (scalp EEG, n = 11; iEEG, n = 2; Table 1 and Supplementary Fig. 1) without altering standard-of-care treatment. Throughout their EMU stay, participants were encouraged to interact with the platform and provide feedback on their experience. Device platform The platform comprises the following three systems: (1) software that extracts real-time EEG data and metadata from the hospital network; (2) a HIPAA-compliant cloud analytics environment that analyzes the data stream; and (3) a smartphone app with integrated conversational AI for bidirectional communication. The system messaged patients to deliver clinical information, alerts and surveys, while patients used the app to query their physiological data, explore trends and annotate symptoms to provide labels for seizure-detection algorithms (Fig. 1). Patients received surveys thrice daily (morning, afternoon and evening; consisting of 10–15 questions about mood, anxiety, sleep, energy level and well-being; Supplementary Tables 4–7). Real-time EEG data streamed from the hospital network to the cloud infrastructure, where pretrained models extracted seizure probabilities...
