Apple has replaced its iPhone Upgrade Program with Apple Upgrade, a leasing service backed by Klarna. Customers must choose carrier plans from AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, with options for 12- or 24-month leases. At lease end, users can return the device, pay off the remaining balance to own it, or upgrade to a new lease. Klarna does not charge fees, allowing devices to be purchased at retail price after leasing. The change follows concerns about predatory practices in similar programs, though Apple denies plans to restrict leased devices for missed payments.
