A large group of white-faced ibises forages in the grass. These are medium-sized, long-legged wading birds with iridescent plumage and long, downward-curved bills.

As a long time Tampa Bay resident I can tell you that nobody there calls them ibises. They call them Curlew.

Well, some of it is also population pressure and changing climate. AFAIK the ibises are from the Dutch population - certainly the spoonbills are - but I could be wrong there. They're now regular every year here, and it's only a matter of time before the spoonbills nest IMO.

Yeah, I think there are other birds that have migrated over from your area & now have established here. And I read last year that ibises have been coming to Galway which blows my mind, but they're getting pushed up here because of climate change & habitat/food loss in their native lands.

Around the office park: a Pileated woodpecker hanging on the underside of an oak limb foraging, plus white ibises picking delicious things out of the damp ground.
Pileated woodpecker is the largest in North America after the almost certainly extinct ivory billed. The Pileated is a big bird with a distinctive pointed red tuft of head feathers, a black and white striped face and a black body and wings. They are curious, and for some reason love our office building, and will creep along the window ledges looking for insects in the cracks. This one is hanging upside down under a thick tree limb of a Florida native oak tree, looking for bugs and pulling off chunks of bark and dropping them. White ibises are now quite common in suburban South Florida as lawns offer nice flat meadows areas for foraging. This band, with their duck-sized white bodies and distinctive curved red beaks, are rummaging along the grassy median in the parking lot.

Yesterday I went off piste & hyper focused on finding tiny pink shells for hours.

Also, I saw two glorious ibises, an egret, a bat and two lizards

That’s adding to hearing A OWUL, the Iberian magpies, the cheeky crumb-begging beach spajjas and the rat-catching cat
