Well tickle me pink. Managed to get a proposal into ICAF 2026 before the deadline. It's vague and rushed but given I'd no idea I could up until a month ago and my electricity was off for five days, I'm pretty bloody chuffed. If you're inot community arts, it's the place to be. icafrotterdam.com

contemplating submitting a proposal to icaf where i discuss my 1st mfa in comics thesis (yikes LOL) & its function as a chronicle of memory & nostalgia through its use of illustrated "snapshots" of my early 20s, its non sequitur vignette format, & abstraction of form to highlight emotions over time

Industrial Mobilization: if you are in European defense and associated with either a dot gov, mil, or edu institution, ask NDU for access to the old ICAF lectures from 1919-1949. The interwar preparations and the post-war reviews are invaluable sources for how (not what) to think about these things.

Vale John Lent (1936-2026). A titan of comics studies (before such it really existed) and communication studies in Southeast Asia. I first met him at ICAF in 2007 when he was hosting Lat in the USA. I finally published an article in the IJOCA recently. John was a generous mentor and friend to many.

Yes, US Army War College. As opposed to AWC, which is the Air War College. Then there's National War College (NWC), Naval War College (NWC), Marine War College (MWC), & the Eisenhower School formerly the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF).

This was the most impressive ceramic exhibit.

Created by Hadi Jamali, (in)stability: the Weight of Distance.

At the International Ceramic Art Fair (ICAF) 2026, May 28 – August 16, 2026 at the Gardiner Museum.
Labyrinth Game, but make it ART

This motion-sensing table dips towards you when you step on the carpet, flooding the city-like, 3D printed ceramic tiles with ominous liquid. One of my favorite pieces at the Gardiner Museum. Would love to see more from this Iranian Canadian artist, Hadi Jamali!

It's a shame NDU took down the old ICAF lectures, because the 20s-50s were amazing. One interwar prophet of industry correctly identified the ICE as the winner of the next war, and he wasn't half wrong.

US Interwar industrial mobilization planning is a great case - no money, just thinking.
