I’m one of the Wikmedians at the #ICHST conference in Dunedin, and am sketchnoting the work we’re doing each day.

Catching up now with Victoria Campbell's #ichst keynote, The Flow of Knowledge from the Stars. Trying to give myself the conference experience

We think it might be the biggest, though ICHST in Manchester 2013 might be there, depending on how you count. It's certainly a lot! #ESHS-HSS #histSTM
Manchester had an opera and night at the Hacienda, we have a ceilidh and Dolly the Sheep.
Next week I'll be traveling to Edinburgh for the #ESHS-HSS conference. As I'm browsing the huge online program, I'm starting to wonder: is this the biggest history of science conference ever? Very excited (and a bit overwhelmed already)! @historyscience.bsky.social @thebshp.bsky.social

Second day of ICHST and the Wiki work is being recorded! So many great conversations today, including about how academics can get recognition for engaging in Wikipedia improvement.

Start planning your papers and sessions now! Edinburgh is the place to be 13-16 July 2026 #histSTM #ichst #sts #hps
(I'm also available for hire if anyone wants to be ceilidh-ready by then)
July 2, 2025 at 8:59 AM
I'm already behind with #ichst! Recordings should be available after 72 hours, but there's *so much* in many parallel sessions that I want to see (and I'm straight into #BSHS2025 next week) #histSTM
Beginning #ICHST with a plenary by Victoria Campbell on Māori astronomy and the flow of knowledge from the stars.

The following week, there's the International Congress of the History of Science and Technology (ICHST) in Dunedin, Aotearoa NZ. No direct flights Yogya to Dunedin, but still possible. I'll be trying to attend both.....

I managed to watch the next #ichst plenary (History of Medicine in the Pacific) and a session until about 1 am last night, so also have the authentic tired and over-caffinated feeling

I'll be in a panel at 9am on Saturday July 5, New Zealand time! If you're presenting at #ICHST I'd love to hear your title + time slot, I am also struggling a bit with the program.
Who has a paper at #ICHST next week? I know the #SIC Scientific Instrument Commission's programme but am finding it hard to navigate the rest. (My pre-recorded paper will be in the 9am 4 July slot, which is 10pm on 3 July in the UK) #histSTM

Sketchnoting #ICHST continues: day 3. Helping researchers get their head around Wikipedia and related projects (and checking to make sure their ORCID is nice and complete).

Carbon-wise, I'm not encouraging all European #histSTM folk to head down under, but it looks like ICHST 2025 will be a great meeting for those who are a bit closer
Folks! The 2025 ICHST meeting in Dunedin, NZ will be so great! One of the "social activities" is greeting penguins as they come ashore. And there's a new national holiday of Watariki (already a Māori holiday)to celebrate! And U of Otago is the most beautiful university in the whole wide world!

This was a great, and thought-provoking plenary session, also with Karly Burch, David Robbie and Hinamouera Morgant-Cross (as a virtual attendee, it was a pleasant thing that all the speakers were also virtual) #ichst
Looking forward to joining the “Plenary: The #nuclear legacy: the #Pacific region from testing ground to global disarmament advocacy” at #ICHST in a few hours. Wish I was there, but glad I still can virtually be.

Final version. #ICHST has been a great 5-day conference; met and photographed many researchers, learned about Japanese embryology and research oceanography, got to work with my colleague @thneed.bsky.social.

The call for papers for the ICHST congress in Dunedin Aotearoa (June 29-July 5, 2025) extended to December 15, 2024. Remember this meeting follows the History of Medicine in Southeast Asia conference in Yogyakarta Indonesia (June 24-27, 2025), call for papers now closed. An appealing ensemble!
