#icssoa17 important consideration for dealing with terrorist related trauma, how will you care for potential perpetrators who are injured, how do u support the staff caring for them, how do u manage families and patients in the same unit as perpetrators.

#icssoa17 Early mobilisation in critical care, who are intubated? Is it safe? Systematic review found adverse event rate 2.6%

#icssoa17 Paul young argues that although early mobilisation maybe sexy we don't know if it's helpful or harmful and ICU weakness maybe a product of critical illness and not a result of bed rest. Association and causation are not the same-

#icssoa17 Paul young. Early mobilisation highly labour intensive and inherently expensive as a consequence, is this justified when we don't have evidence of benefit?

#icssoa17 we've evolved not to eat during severe illness, we've evolved to use pyrexia in response to infective insults, is sarcopaenia during critical illness an adaptive response which were interfering with?

#icssoa17 is the ITU nurse ratio in the UK justified. I think it probably is when you consider we don't have respiratory therapists, perfusionists to operate and prime RRT, no pharmacy support for drug perpetration, very limited HCA support for basic hygiene needs.

#icssoa17 Caroline leach talking trauma you can use clothing labels on children to make weight estimates. Devil juice (abnormal saline) can you withhold prehospital and wait for the red stuff.

#icssoa17 Peter brindly, I love this, small study of 2 IOs in one bone, it works and no leeks.

#icssoa17 trauma partly a disease of deprivation. In summer children die from fall in high rise buildings, due to lack of air conditioning. Low rate of paediatric falls from wealthy areas.
