The fifth annual Ukraine-France Forum took place in Paris. It was organized by the New Europe Center and the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI). Participants were addressed remotely by Benjamin Haddad, France’s Minister Delegate for Europe, and Vsevolod Chentsov, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration. This is reported by Ukrinform. Chentsov described dialogue with Paris as a search for a shared vision of Europe’s future. He recalled that during France’s presidency of the Council of the EU in 2022 Ukraine received candidate status for EU accession. Negotiations have now moved, he said, to substantive work. “For us, dialogue with Paris is always a search for strategic clarity about our shared European future” – Vsevolod Chentsov Chentsov said Ukraine had opened two negotiating clusters and hoped to open the second and third next week, and the fourth and fifth by the end of the year. He also noted that Ukraine was aligning its legislation with European standards and deepening cooperation with the EU in energy, transport, digitalization and defense.
