Ijiraq

Done for "Achtung! Cthulhu - Arctic Abominations" by Modiphius.
Even though the result turned out pretty ok, I've struggled a bit with it because i broke one of my rules of painting of never trying to directly colorize grayscale sketch. It never works for me.

Isserkat are strange beings from Inuit and greenlandic Inuit mythology, whose eyes blink sideways. The Ijiraq are also sometimes described this way.
Black and white sketch of 3 Ijiraq or Isserkat. In the foreground one leers at the viewer. Its eyes and mouth are vertical on its face and it covers its sideways mouth with a long slender hand. In the background two more stand with the same vertical facial features

Summoning all Inscryption fans with some Ijiraq art I did for a themed drawing challenge hosted on Tumblr. The prompt for that week was "Transformation". :}

#Inscryption
A bust shot of the Ijiraq in a dark forest trying to shield its face with its robe. It's looking at the camera, which is implied to be taking its picture.

Bonus art of Ijiraq, he's here hanging out with his boyfriend Til'nouvath, who is one of @lilyclipse.bsky.social's OCs!
A Stardroid OC (Ijiraq) and a demon OC (Til'nouvath) are cuddling on a couch together. Til'nouvath is sitting on Ijiraq's lap, a hand cupping his face, and the two are smiling happily at each other. They are lit from the front by a TV screen that is not in frame.

Not only did #DawnofMidi return to the stage this year to bless us all with select anniversary performances of their masterpiece Dysnomia. But lucky for everyone else, our dear friend #VincentMoon managed to capture this excerpt of ‘Ijiraq’ from their #Wonderfruit festival performance.

OC of the Day!

Ijiraq is a Stardroid created by Set Moon, and a powerful fighter. He is not afraid to use his own antlers as a weapon, and is often eager for combat.

A Megaman OC design. The pose of the character is staring directly at the camera with his head tilted, seeming ominous. He has a large pair of antlers and one torn ear. His armor is primarily a pale brown, with red and black accents.

The Inuut people teach about the Ijiraq, wicked shapeshifters who steal children and bring them between worlds. They can be identified by their red, sideways eyes and sideways mouths. The Ijiraq were once Inuit that went too far north. Even among the first peoples there is too cold.

IN FACT, I thought it was ALL FOR NOTHING because I got to the last boss and was missing a card with 4 power. I grabbed Ijiraq from the last boss though, COMPLETELY FORGETTING it's actually 4 power. Ijiraq is a card that disguises itself as other cards in your deck, so I had NO IDEA AND LUCKED OUT.

Inuit throat singers creating haunting, and often cinematic pieces. Layers of breaths, growls, and sung vocals directly invoking the Inuit figures the tracks are named for. A moonlit night communion. Captivating and hypnotic avant-folk. piqsiq.bandcamp.com/track/ijiraq... #MusicSky
