After beating the Monstrous Opus, I'd say if I were to change the ending, I'd have the 3rd Prime Illager be a boss that merely has a defeat animation where they just fall off an edge or smth, just to make it not as obvious they're gonna have them survive as a "oooo but there's more out there" twist-

I was playing through MCD II and was struck by a resemblance between the Rainy Plains Illager towers and a Monolith I built some years back on a server, as shown bellow.
Needless to say, I'm a fan of this coincidence, it honestly makes me want to modernize my Monolith with a more useful interior*.
