I think besides the incorrect guess on details, the other main problem with having it upscale like this is old paintings/old painting-styled illustrations get smoothed out because it views texture, age, and cracks as imperfections that need to be fixed, rather than just retain them.
I was curious but ambivalent about the Shogun 2 Complete Edition thing, mostly because after playing it 2 years ago, game still looked phenomenal. So did we need this?

Tubi has the 60s Dororo TV series based on the Tezuka manga. Subtitled, prints are clear if not clean (some of it's reflections on cels and other original imperfections) but it's more than fine. I got three episodes in before conking out from my cold. I think there's 12 episodes overall. Whee!

I bought a second pair of these overalls with the intent of customizing them but unfortunately they didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. Rather than give up I decided to lean into the imperfections and this is what I ended up with.

Indeed, the "warmth" that some claim you get from vinyl are just imperfections. There is probably a market to sell CDs with these audio imperfections.
