I get the feeling that they were trying to be a British Infocom, but since I never played Infocom games due to them not being available on Speccy, I don't know how they differed.

I lost the pair that came with the Infocom game, many moons ago.

c'est ASCII-art, Infocom c'était texte seul

On the digital side, games like Dispatch and Baldur's Gate 3 are high end solo RPGs, but there's a framework called Twine that lets anyone with a text editor make an InfoCom style "exploratory novel" which fills the niche of Choose Your Own Adventure books from the 1980s.

(Text and monster illustrations by Infocom, 1984. The brass-and-leather envelope art is by me.)

They did that in Leather Goddesses of Phobos (the Infocom game).

I've finally published the update to my #InfoCom Interpreter, fixing quite a few things on the way. I've also pre-packaged a few games to go with it as I haven't really worked out how to make it more automated yet.
Highlights of the updates are:

An unexpected find but a pleasant one. All appear to be CIB. #zork #infocom #hg2g #retrogaming #retrocomputing

This dolphin has almost solved the babel fish puzzle from #infocom #h2g2. Just the high-level cleaning robot and the dressing gown sleeve to go.

Well, they really did try to do this, and it seems that they were on good terms with Infocom too. Always thought of their games as better designed (and more beautiful due to the graphics and all), but slightly less impressive in their writing? Not sure tbh.

Back when games came in boxes, they often included trinkets known as “feelies.” These originated with Infocom text games in the early 1980s and provided an incentive to buy a game rather than pirating it — much like our collector’s DVD convinced people to download Sam & Max.

one year i went to a Commodore trade show and bought an Infocom text adventure game from a booth and I entered a sweepstakes and I won a $50 free game per month for a year and sibling lemme tell you my computing life never felt that good again

Do you like the old text adventure games from #INFOCOM and want more? #WritingCommunity

This is a fully playable mystery game. I've included sounds of a disc drive and set the text load speed to emulate the technology of the 1980's. It is HTML-based, so all you need is a browser. #GameSky Comment!

That is pretty cool! Infocom made some very clever adventures. And the box candy! So much good stuff inside

Dann right! Infocom was well known for that, and Origin before it became an online service (I am still bitter about EA doing thatn but yeah)

Infocom games were the best. I still miss my C64.

After about 22 years, I've written a sequel to Amazork (see amazork.com.). Which makes it unquestionably the Twin peaks of comedic specifically amazon-mocking faux-infocom-style text adventures!

I believe Grove is submitting it to McSweeney's.If they pass I'll find some other way... FOR THE PUBLIC!
