In the field I thought this was Infundibulicybe gibba, but I just got a DNA barcode back from Mycota Lab and this turned out to be Infundibulicybe squamulosa. I. gibba has a lighter cap color and prefers hardwoods while I. squamulosa grows under conifers.

Vom Wald auf den 🍽️. #Mönchsköpfe (Infundibulicybe geotropa) sind Streuzehrer im #Buchenwald auf Kalk. Durch die radiale Ausbreitung des Pilzmycel bilden sich riesige #Hexenringe der 30cm großen Kappen.

First one looks very much like suillus americanus, second seems like infundibulicybe geotropa. But there are a few funnels that look almost identical, so I could be wrong.

I think these are Infundibulicybe geotropa - trooping funnel. However my fungi id relies on looking on the internet so I’m probably wrong. However they are huge (20cm dia) and if the temperature picks up will be gathered once “over” to search for beetles.

Brutal hedge flailing makes path between planted native species-rich hedges more passable.
Rain's made a brook on N side of Brook Lane, Carlton as well as to S, both flowing into R Stour headwaters.
