Irish President Catherine Connolly on Inis Bó Finne [Inishbofin, Galway]. Irish presidents are elected by proportional representation & carry enormous respect in Ireland & across the world for their human rights activism. Democracy works, but you have to decolonise your thinking!

Most climate meetings happen in sterile conference rooms. Ireland’s former climate minister Eamon Ryan invited us to Inishbofin instead.

An island of wild beauty, already battered by extreme storms.

Out here, you feel what we’re fighting to protect.

Feb 18: Feast of Colmán of Lindisfarne (†676), bishop 661-4. Chief proponent of the 'Irish' dating of Easter at the Synod of Whitby, after which he resigned. Withdrew to Iona with followers and founded a monastery on Inis Bó Finne (Inishbofin) in his native Ireland. 📸xlibber

This just happened off Inishbofin. They know we’re coming! 🐋🐬💙

A humpback whale and what looks like a dolphin have formed the welcoming committee. I’m on my way to join 60 climate leaders on this secluded Irish island.

Leaving the Inishbofin climate gathering with a question for anyone shaping climate policy, a project or a campaign:

Who will still defend this after the next election?

If the only honest answer is people who already agree with you, it is not finished.

🪶 The European robin is a good subject because they are abundant but also not at all shy, so you can get quite close. I was pleased with the detail that came out on this. #robin #birds #inishbofin
