current status: trying very hard to motivate myself to do art studies. I haven't done heavy spot black work for a while now so my white/black balance on inks is way off atm...
hoping to get back into it, since I still have a more comic-traditional monochrome project I need to finish

I read the issue. Liked Carlin’s afterword a lot.
Took me a bit to recognize Bogdanove and Grummet with the inks and colors.

Right? Also, I had kinda hoped that Tural didn't use the Enchanted inks that are so prominent across Aldenard, because that's how she's able to read without trouble and making her grapple with that would have been interesting!

picked back up trigun & its still so fucking distracting to read. nightow's inks are just absolutely sick. they're disgusting. there's so much love in each little g nib scribble, brush smoke cloud, overcomplicated vehicle, little screw or wonky rock. and every guy just looks cool as hell

yeah normally when I use colored pencils I’m just coloring and rendering, I haven’t tried drawing on top of a solid background, and usually if I were to try this it would be in inks (but I don’t have them on hand and kinda want this sketchbook to only be pencils)

--diluted with water. if you want nice matte colored ink i suggest federalist inks from stlouis art supply and i actually suggest them for nibs also outside of the basic spoon/g pen nib (tachikawa is good, zebra or nikki is also good) but there are a lot of interesting vintage nibs

as far as inks go i really really like carbon platinum or zig ink for black, carbon is very good but can bleed on poor paper and zig is nice and thick but is a little shiny because of its volume and catches light a little. for ink wash, there's sumi ink which is always very smooth and nice, easily--

it depends on what youre looking for but ive been exploring them for ~2 years and consider myself fairly decent at them. tried a lot of nibs, a lot of inks, have lots of opinions. what sort of thing are you going for?

And for Thancred I really wish we could see him struggle more! Etheirys isn't a world that's particularly kind to those who can't use aether. Heck even the Inks commonly used in Aldenard are infused with the stuff. The Only culture we've seen that doesn't design everything with aether users in mind
