Uncle's 1946 Ford farm truck. He had cut an innertube to loop over the floor shift handle so when you shifted into 2nd you could loop it over an ash tray so it wouldn't slip out of gear.

I can think of many other methods of teaching Homer. Methods that have a much longer track record of success. Millennia, even.
I could teach Homer with a banana and an innertube. It would be a new and radical method, and a lot less effective than closely reading in community, guided by an expert.
