Could be literally anything. Bees. Laser interferometry. Bra manufacturing. Guns. If you post with sincerity and an openness to learning you can learn.

Radio interferometry is a technique in radio astronomy where signals from two or more radio telescopes are combined to simulate a much larger telescope, allowing astronomers to achieve higher resolution than a single dish could provide. 🧪 🔭

Here’s how it works, in simple terms:

Modulated ringdown comb interferometry for sensing of highly complex gases - Nature
A new optical technique, modulated ringdown comb interferometry, is introduced for measuring the concentration of gas species in a complex sample and its efficacy demonstrated using exhaled human breath and ambient air in the mid-infrared.

In 1946; Ruby Payne-Scott did the first demonstration of radio interferometry because she was curious where on the Sun radio bursts were coming from.

Now radio interferometry is the basis for the satellite navigation that makes the GPS on your phone work.
🪼 Your tax dollars paid a scientist to squeeze jellyfish through cheesecloth. Osamu Shimomura processed tens of thousands on an NSF grant to understand why they glow. He found a protein that glowed green under UV light. Called it "green protein." Nobody cared. For decades.

Also rough math here...

If it's doing what Elon claims it's doing, it'd use about 120W per pixel.

So 248 MW per 1080p "camera".

So 708 Tesla batteries per hour usage of each camera.

But what do I know? He's the brilliant engineer. I'm just a dufus super into interferometry 🤷🏻‍♂️
