"the purpose of a standard, beyond reproducibility, is interoperation" might not be the catchiest slogan but i am very tired of people pretending that the one they learned first is somehow intuitive, and that is somehow the criteria for what a standard of measurement is about

honestly its kind of incredible that even directly pandering to the anti free-for-all interoperation crowd still gets u flamed because they can't read. excited for bridge intent anyways

Perhaps, but what does atproto try to make inherent? It’s not a downtime resistance protocol or a censorship resistance protocol. It can provide some benefits there, but really at its core it’s an interoperation protocol. It essentially forces noncooperative interop

although the point of a unit of measurement is interoperation and many of the ones we have picked are arbitrary and capricious

Atproto does interoperation automatically. If you use the public repos - if youre "on protocol" - you are interoperating.
You don't even have a choice about it. Adversarial, cooperative, doesn't matter. The public records can be read by any app
