The alienation effect seems to be about how viewers acknowledge they are watching something rather than just thinking about the plot and characters of what they are seeing. Does the creator always have this in mind? #hwa7 #interviewithpatty

One thing I’ve also really wondered about is why actors in "old" movies look so obviously like they’re acting, whereas nowadays, it’s almost impossible to tell whether they are acting or not.

I don't know about others, but personally and I suppose many people would prefer strong content over visuals that are heavily invested in but lack substance. Take *12 Angry Men*, for instance, yet the content is absolutely top-notch.
