…I’ve never learned how to drive a manual transmission.

I’m 43 years old, and I’m the only person in my family who doesn’t know how to drive a manual transmission.

I *AM* the only person in my family who knows how to intubate a person, though!

No I will not ask how much it took me to intubate a doll

Does anyone know who it was that gave the NHS instructions to not intubate disabled people with Covid?
Fortunately a whistleblower made that instruction public (hopefully before it was acted on!) and it went away.

I only just woke up and was like "of course you'd need to intubate giraffes, how else would they pee"

He can deliver a baby. He can stem a bleed. He can intubate a patient …. Oh wait, I’m mixing up the actor and the character. He’s gorgeous though 💙 #would

We're gonna have to intubate this guy.

He presented with severe abdominal pain 24 hours after treatment, & fever. Despite symptomatic treatment the situation worsened and he developed respiratory distress and cyanosis (blue tint due to reduced oxygen levels). Despite efforts to intubate and tread the patients died 81 hours post treatment

Seems reasonable

pH 7.18. MAP 58. SpO₂ 84%. Do you intubate now or optimize first?

BiPAP to 100% before the blade, or is that a luxury you don't have? Tell us how you manage this at your institution.👇

Your ALF patient is agitated. Do you chase sedation or intubate early?

Nathalie van der Rijst, MD (@lifesupportmd) from ResusX:2026:
These patients spiral fast, and early intubation doubles as ICP control. What's your threshold at the bedside? Drop your approach below.

SpO2 100%; ready to intubate? Not so fast.

Anand Swaminathan, MD (@emswami) from ResusX:2026:
The longer you pre-ox with positive pressure, the more nitrogen you wash out, the more time you buy during apnea. What's your pre-ox protocol for the crashing pt? Comment below.👇

Had a call recently that made me reflect on the absurdity of what we're asked to do in EMS. Infant drowning, found upside down in five gallon bucket (she survived and fully recovered). Pale, cold, and wasn't crying. Bulb suction, leg bounces and back blows to clear her airway, prep to intubate...

me after 5 seasons of ER: i could definitely intubate someone. i got this.

Sat 88%, MAP 62, bicarb 14, and they need a tube now.

Do you intubate or resuscitate first? What's your move at the bedside? Comment to discuss.👇

When should you intubate before you resuscitate?
-Dynamic anatomical airways can rapidly progress to unintubateable
-Move rapidly to intubate before you’re only fix is a surgical airway
-Examples: angioedema, anaphylaxis, expanding neck hematomas

Apparently I had a grand mal seizure in ED and they ended up having to intubate me. Hence why I ended up in the ICU.

They found my partner a couple hours later and the cop who found him had to do CPR because he wasn't breathing. He strangled himself with the car seatbelt...

MAP is 58, pt needs the tube now. Do you intubate immediately or take 3 minutes to optimize first?

Anand Swaminathan, MD (@emswami) from ResusX:2026:
What's on your pre-intubation checklist when the pt is already crashing? Comment with your approach.👇

Oh, that's funny.

My reply about beading got me added to somebody's Do Not Intubate list.

Any idea what that purplish stain is on the strap and the bottom?

EMCrit 436 - When you RSI Shocked Patients, they Tend to Die

8 years later, we are bringing HNI out of the expert-only realm so anyone can intubate shocky patients safely without causing post-intubation arrest & hopefully not causing any BP/CO drop at all...

Intubate a half dead pet the parents have ignored, answer the phone, fill scripts, argue with insurance. I don’t even get my own insurance. We have the highest suicide rates around. Next person I see that bitches about a bill is getting drop kicked.

Turns out, I love power tools? I should have realized sooner because I use a glidescope to intubate people every day because I am lazy.
