I keep reading about Gen choosing iPods over iPhones for music. It makes sense! I wish my old iPod still worked, I used to make playlists like I was getting paid for it

Replacing the HDD with an SD card adapter board and swapping the battery is super easy on these old iPods, rockbox is very straightforward too

i don't think i can really hate on people for enjoying using old ipods and handhelds and shit but i think, generally speaking, the fact that the average smartphone consolidates a lot of useful devices and tools into one is actually one of the few genuinely good things to come out of modern tech

we grew up with no posessions to call our own, so it was bugs and rocks, but even those were taken from us, so the family computer was the entirety of our entertainment and we learned how to pirate shit so early on, kids in school would pay us to load shows onto their ipods n shit

seeing influenres onlinedoing "anti-branrot" or "tech minimalism" tech experiments is really funy because like. It is fun toplay with iPods and PSPs and stuff in 2026 but we realise that nobody is gonna go back to solely using these because the Evil Modern tech is also a social technology right

My son lost his iPods - he wanted a replacement pair for Christmas usually I would get them no issue - Then I remembered Apple kissed the ring - when that day happened I swore to my family I will never ever buy another Apple product for as long as I live - no Mac’s , no iPhones , no iPods - NEVER

There's actually a community that focuses on modernizing iPods and Zunes to still just do their basic functionality but add things to improve it such as more modern storage and Bluetooth functionality. I was debating it after researching what would be needed.
