I finally had to block a Duke prof who insisted my hatred of Duke was irrational and unfounded and ... come on, man.
I took my child to loo at some schools in NC and other places. We left 10 minutes into the Duke tour (the campus oozes wealth) when the guide discussed the maid service at the dorms.
And Duke University looked over applications from promising young people all over America and said, "wait, this spoiled asshole from Santa Monica who gave a speech that they should be allowed to throw their trash on the floor because they had janitors -- this is a true Duke Man."

After the 10th ballistic missile targeting Kyiv this night, I developed a completely irrational suspicion that tomorrow might be light on electricity.
Try not to be born in a country that borders Russia and isn’t a NATO member. Because when #Russia is firing ballistic missiles at you while you’re sitting in the bathroom in an apartment with no electricity or heating, you might experience some psychological difficulties.

I love the Coens and the subject matter is right up my alley. So it does seem irrational to hate it. But then I remember the whole running thing about the cat and my hatred doesn’t seem irrational at all.

Trump cares about nothing so much as being the main character 24/7. He’ll be all over the place on his interactions with the Democratic majority by design to keep getting headlines. I think looking at how he’s both loved and hated Mamdani is instructive. Whatever works in any given moment.
