#ISOLT

ISOLT is about heroic "time commandos" who fight a strange entity called the Parmenidean, and its minions, who are erasing history and draining Time from the universe. It's not about madeleines, trying to find meaning in reminiscing, or problematic romantic relationships full of obsessive jealousy.

Omg, reading Underworld and ISOLT at the same time is unhinged, I couldn’t do it, even with a break. I have to pace myself

I am weirdly uninterested in Infinite Jest despite wanting to read all the canonically challenging books and enjoying DFW’s writing. I know would probably love it 🤷‍♀️

It's King Mark/Tristan and Isolt.

You’re right, i didnt think of that at the time because my head was still so much in the books. Is there another isolt adaptation worth checking out?

I saw it quite soon after finishing isolt, and i found it very healing that someone managed to display the suffering of albertine on screen in a way that the novel isn’t exactly explicit with. What did you think of it?

I would recommend reading a good summary of isolt (or well, isolt) before diving in
June 2, 2026 at 8:43 PM
Did you think it stands on its own? Kept wondering while watching if it was specifically made for those who read isolt

It was a beautiful visual tribute to ISOLT, like staying in a dream a little longer when you dont want to wake up (never thought i’d say that but not enough albertine tho!)

Isolt Sayre eventually built a Hogwarts knockoff called Ilvermorny. The house mascots are all Native mythological creatures. And William's descendants are unpaid groundskeepers at the school. Because JK Rowling loves her some cultural appropriation and slavery.

A white woman named Isolt Sayre comes to North America fleeing her abusive aunt. She saves the life of a local pukwudgie, who because of JK Rowling's made-up custom, was indebted to her. Thus he became her servant.
Isolt also gave him an English name, William.

say what you want about slytherin but ilvermorny wouldn't be standing if it wasn't for isolt, another heir of slytherin who is the founder of the north american wizarding school ilvermorny.

without slytherin that school wouldn't be standing

Well I did just finish reading the entirety of ISOLT so 🤷🏻‍♀️

honestly the first book of ISoLT (Swann’s Way, as often translated) will give you a solid taste, and it’s a banger book on its own

42. Idylls of the King and a Selection of Poems by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
very "ideologically I don't agree with X but they kinda went off with Y" - lovely poetry, not my favourite takes on characters (except Elaine and Isolt, loved them). but lovely poetry regardless

From 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

The quote isn't far off. While reading ISOLT with the #ProustTogether reading group, I was unhoused and staying in a van. Proust and the group helped me through a difficult time.
