I was completely surprised (and flattered) to have gotten this nod (as Best Local Author) in an Ithaca Times reader's poll. 📚🦷🧪 🦇📰

Happy All souls Day

The veil is thin between dark and light

Remember your ancestors on this night

May they hold you and keep you

In this world of strife

Syracuse and Ithaca do still exist! TIL! I think the ones in NY are clearly more famous in the USA in 2026 though!

I have an idea of a modern take on the Odyssey, about a Cornell U frat going to a party in Troy and then getting lost on the way back home to Ithaca in a trip that takes over 10 hours through all over upstate NY (Syracuse, Rome, Utica, Palmyra, Corinth, etc).

Like Anabasis=>The Warriors.

upstate ny made so much hay out of the odyssey. “what do you mean it took odysseus ten years to get from troy to ithaca? it’s a 3 hour drive!”

eating at Moosewood was a rare, well enjoyed treat during college. If you get to visit Ithaca, make sure to stop by for a meal.
